Actress shocked by threats before attack

A well-known television actress recounted a threatening telephone call she received before an attack which seriously injured her boyfriend, award-winning film director Yan Po.

The caller allegedly told the actress, Li Xiaoran, 43, to break off her relationship with Yan, also 43, dubbed a rising star of China's so-called "sixth generation" of film directors, Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

Li described the threatening conversation to Beijing Television.
