On June 1, Beijing Benz Automobile Co Ltd released the recommended price tag for its C-Class entry-level model - the C 180 K Classic - pegging the retail sticker at 308,000 yuan.
After its debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April, the model has been at the center of attention for a couple of reasons - it is the first 1.6-liter displacement vehicle in China produced by a luxury brand and is also the only sedan in its segment to qualify for the government's vehicle sales tax discount.
Equipped with a Mercedes-Benz Kompressor engine, the C 180 K Classic delivers 115 kW in power and 230 Nm of torque, powering it to a top speed of 223 km/h.
