Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said on Tuesday that the team hasn't yet picked a new head coach and the decision won't be left to two-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James.
Gilbert said James, the Cavaliers star who is eligible for free agency on July 1, won't be consulted during the coaching search, refuting various reports that the Cavs would take his wishes into consideration in a bid to keep him in Cleveland.
Gilbert, speaking at a news conference to introduce new general manager Chris Grant, also denied James had input on the recent sacking of coach Mike Brown and the departure of general manager Danny Ferry.
