Fuming residents block factory gates for causing sewage backflow

Almost 100 residents from Longxingyuan West residence community in Changping district blocked the entrance gate to a nearby Sany Heavy Industry factory on Thursday.

Trucks and refuse collectors were parked in front of the gate for nearly 10 hours, till 6 pm that day.

Local residents claimed the factory, which produces construction machinery and is located to the north of the community, had clogged a downstream sewage channel, causing sewage to flow back to residence buildings. The dirty water, which contained human feces, flooded 26 basements of the Buildings No 1 and No 2 of the community on the evening of May 31, causing noticeable damage.
