Cote d'Ivoire captain Drogba has successful surgery on elbow

BERNE - Cote d'Ivoire captain Didier Drogba has undergone a successful operation on his fractured elbow although his team did not say whether he would be able to play at the World Cup.

"The necessary surgical intervention has been a success," the Cote d'Ivoire football federation said on its website (www.fif-ci.com) on Saturday.

The federation said the medical staff was confident Drogba would make "a rapid recovery" but did not elaborate.
