Minimum wage hike to bridge income gap

The minimum monthly wage in Beijing will increase 20 percent, to 960 yuan, beginning July 1.

The increase will push industries in the city to upgrade working conditions, many experts said.

The current minimum wage of 800 yuan per month was adjusted upward in 2008.
