Small is profitable with capsule homes

The 78-year-old capsule apartments designer Huang Rixin announced the proposal for his third-generation capsule apartments on June 1.

Huang claimed the upgraded apartments solved the fire and soundproofing problems of the earlier versions and had more supporting facilities.

Unlike the previous two generations of capsule, the new apartments use fireproofing and soundproofing foam bricks to replace reinforced concrete, which also reduces the cost per apartment from 2,500 yuan to 1,000 yuan, Huang explained.
