BEA plans yuan bond sale

Bank of East Asia's (BEA) China unit has applied to issue yuan denominated bonds, according to its Vice-Chairman Chen Qichang.

Chen, however, declined to give details on the size of the planned issue. The bank would sell up to 5 billion yuan ($732 million) worth of local currency bonds, Reuters reported earlier, citing unnamed sources. He also said that BEA was in talks to acquire a stake in a Chinese fund house.
