Police escort is special gift for pupils

Kindergarten and primary pupils have been given a special gift on International Children's Day - regular police escorts to and from their schools.

The escorts, comprising more than 500 policewomen, will be deployed to 100 kindergartens and primary schools with complex and busy road conditions, to ensure safety while children cross roads, and to alleviate peak hour traffic jams.

The service starts on International Children's Day, which is celebrated on June 1.
