US security policy breaks from the past

By Ma Liyao | China Daily | Updated: 2010-05-29 07:43

BEIJING - The National Security Strategy unveiled by US President Barack Obama on Thursday marks a shift from the country's earlier policy of "acting alone" and goes on to describe relations with China as "critical to build broader cooperation on areas of mutual interest."

Analysts said the report reiterates the policy of cooperation with China that the Obama administration has been focusing on since its inauguration.

The report was released two days after the second China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue ended in Beijing, and dwells at length on the US strategy with China.
