Relics renewed at Old Summer Palace

The public will enjoy a rare opportunity to watch experts restore cultural treasures as 150 relics unearthed from Yuanmingyuan - the Old Summer Palace - will be repaired beginning next month.

It is the first time visitors have been offered the chance to watch the restoration process of park relics, officials said.

Twenty pieces will be repaired beginning June 8, said Qian Qian, a China Cultural Relics Protection Foundation official is in charge of the project, on Wednesday.
