Wedding twitters, divorce rumors, lessons in magic

A wedding banquet is the traditional way of making public a marriage but it appears Twitter (or more accurately its Chinese equivalent, called weibo or "micro-blog") is now the preferred method for making celebrity nuptial announcements.

A case in point is rock singer Zheng Jun, 43, and actress Liu Yun, 27, who were married on Wednesday in Zheng's hometown of Xi'an, at which Liu joyfully twitted that "today is a memorable day".

Her agent, however, was not willing to confirm the news, possibly because Liu has been called the "third wheel" who derailed Zheng's previous marriage to Sun Feng. The pair were together for 14 years, until marrying in 2003, and they have an 11-year-old daughter.
