Liu has doubts on Olympic return

By Gao Changxin | China Daily | Updated: 2010-05-25 08:04

SHANGHAI - Athens Olympic gold medalist Liu Xiang made another step forward in his prolonged comeback from an Achilles' tendon injury on Sunday night but harbors doubts about his chances at the London Olympic Games in 2012.

In his hometown of Shanghai, the 26-year-old former world record holder finished third in a modest time of 13.40 seconds in the 110m hurdles at the IAAF Diamond League meet; the race was won by American David Oliver with his season-best of 12.99.

"I'm yet to think of the (chance to compete at) London Olympics. I'm not going to have too many expectations," said Liu, who became the first Asian to win a sprint hurdles gold at the 2004 Athens Games. "All I know is I won't give up, I will fight on and see what happens two years from now."
