Mavs owner Cuban fined

China Daily | Updated: 2010-05-24 07:59

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was fined $100,000 by the NBA on Saturday for remarks made about current Cavaliers star LeBron James that broke the league's anti-tampering rules.

Cuban, speaking in an interview last week with CNNMoney.com, said "anybody" would be interested in signing James, who is expected to be a sought-after free agent when the playoffs end.

The outspoken billionaire, whose Mavs were ousted in the first round of the playoffs by San Antonio, said it would be difficult to sign the two-time defending NBA Most Valuable Player but said a sign-and-trade swap with the Cavaliers was something he would consider.
