Tourism push awaits overseas funding
The Beijing municipal government is expecting an investment of as much as 55 billion yuan from other countries for 20 developing tourist programs, at the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Summit next week. Gu Xiaoyuan, deputy director of the Beijing municipal tourism administration, said the global summit is a great chance to promote Beijing's tourism market and resources to the world.
As many as 461 people from overseas have registered for the summit, to run from May 25 to 27, including 12 national government officials, 44 WTTC members and 76 journalists. More than 700 people from China, including company representatives, scholars and reporters, will also participate.
