Watchdog says govt failed

Some municipal government departments might go to court on a charge of inaction, after a Beijing company won the first lawsuit using Chinese Food Safety Law on Thursday.
The Haidian district court ordered a branch belonging to the century-old Donglaishun chain to pay Beijing Kaifa Environmental Protection Technology Consulting Center a total of 165 yuan in compensation, for packing takeaway food in poisonous containers.
The consulting center is an independent food research company in the capital, which focuses mainly on packaging quality.
