Relocation bulldozed after local residents protest

The relocation plan for Tangjialing was scrapped on Sunday, a few days after it was announced.

The plan was ditched after hundreds of Tangjialing villagers gathered in front of the village committee at 8 am to add their fingerprints to an appeal letter that called for an end to the demolition and relocation plan, Beijing News reported on Sunday.

Tangjialing, in Haidian district, northwest Beijing, is famous for its large "ant tribe" population, a term used to describe college graduates who live in extrenely close confines the capital without a Beijing hukou.
