Man charged over fake TCM deaths

A man who allegedly sold fake gypsum to be used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which allegedly led to the deaths of two patients has been charged by Miyun county prosecutors, the district court said on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said the man, surnamed Hu, bought the drug from a factory in Hebei province in April 2009. He sold the drug to a clinic doctor, who then prescribed the drug to two patients on May 21. The two patients died the next day. The drug was found to contain too much arsenic. The court has not yet delivered a verdict.
