Influential artist award

Celebrated artist Wu Guanzhong (pictured) was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding accomplishments at the 4th AAC Awards for the Most Influential Participants of Chinese Art 2009, an annual art event hosted by Beijing Artron Cultural Development Company and artron.net.

A selection committee composed of 21 art critics and scholars from home and abroad credited the 91-year-old Wu for his lifelong explorations of Chinese oil painting and contributions to contemporary Chinese fine art. He is among the few Chinese artists whose works have fetched record-setting auction prices. His generous donations to many art museums have also won him many plaudits.
