China Daily inks Fujian agreement

FUZHOU - China Daily on Monday signed an agreement with the publicity department of Fujian province in an effort to boost development in the Haixi region, an area west of the Taiwan Straits that encompasses Fujian and parts of Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces.

China Daily's editor-in-chief Zhu Ling said the newspaper group would throw its weight behind the province, which was one of the earliest to open up to economic development and now occupies a key position in the country's coastal economic belts.

"We'll make use of our resources and our brand to campaign for Fujian, its economic growth, social progress and cross-Straits relations," he said.
