Universities look to cultivate links with employers
Chinese higher education practitioners wish to expand relations between universities and industry, in order to prepare students for today's competitive employment market.
An initiative by the Ministry of Education, the Fourth Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum, discussed ways that educators can resolve the challenges confronting universities, such as how to balance enrollment expansion with academic excellence, how to meet the demands of economic development and how to deepen international cooperation to meet the demands of globalization.
This year's session, which ran from Sunday to Tuesday in Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu province, centered on "enhancing and cultivating the quality of university talent". The heads of more than 150 domestic and foreign institutions participated, as well as many high-ranking administrators from international enterprises.
