OTTAWA - Britons wary of a hung Parliament after Thursday's election could learn some lessons from Canada, which has lived with minority governments, one Liberal and two Conservative, since 2004.
At times it has almost been parliamentary business as normal, with annual budgets, Conservative tax cuts and then big spending packages to pull Canada out of recession.
But there have been two controversial Conservative shutdowns of Parliament, one failed attempt at a three-party coalition and a number of down-to-the-line confidence votes.
