First person: Migrant worker Xin Shuwei, 32

My hometown is in Dezhou, Shandong province, where I was a farmer. I moved to Beijing five years ago with my wife.

To save on rent, we kept changing homes for 12 months, which was a terrible experience actually. From downtown areas to the suburbs, the high prices forced us to move further and further south.

Luckily, we finally found our home in Laosanyu village, Daxing district, and have settled here ever since. Although I'm not a native here, I'd say I know the place pretty well.
