A court has rejected an appeal by Li Xiao'e who has asked for 1.21 million yuan in compensation from Jingxi Hospital for the death of her daughter, Li Liyun, because Li Liyun's boyfriend refused to sign the consent to let doctors operate on her.
Beijing's No 2 Intermediate People's Court ruled the treatments and diagnosis made by Jingxi Hospital didn't cause the death of Li Liyun, but ordered the hospital to pay 100,000 yuan to Li's family as a humanitarian gesture.
Li Xiao'e and her boyfriend didn't accept the verdict. They said in the appeal on March 24 that Jingxi Hospital should take full responsibility for the girl's death, because it made mistakes in the emergency treatment and diagnosis.
