Unlicensed doctor gets 13 years in jail

An unlicensed doctor who caused the death of a patient was sentenced to 13 years in prison and asked to pay compensation of almost 540,000 yuan, Daxing district court said on Thursday. Wu Wenliang ran an unlicensed clinic in Daxing district. When a man came for treatment on March 9 last year, Wu gave him a drip. When the patient showed an allergic reaction, Wu gave him some medication and ran away. The patient died of respiratory failure at the clinic.

Wu turned himself in three days later.
