Bob Donewald Jr, head coach of the Shanghai Sharks, is set to take over as coach of China's national basketball team, local reports stated on Tuesday.
Donewald, the reports claim, will return to China next week to ink the deal with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) while the national squad will assemble on May 5 for a training camp to prepare for August's World Championships in Turkey.
Donewald, who took the Sharks to their first semifinals in eight years in this season's CBA playoffs, is expected to be granted a two-year contract but is also likely to remain in charge of the Shanghai team next season, the reports claim.
