Monks hold mass prayer

China Daily | Updated: 2010-04-29 07:54

YUSHU, Qinghai - More than 120 monks from the Thrangu Monastery in Yushu on Wednesday held a mass prayer service to mourn the dead.

It was the largest religious activity held in the Tibetan autonomous prefecture since the magnitude 7.1 earthquake jolted the area, local officials said.

On the grasslands near Yushu's airport the monks sat and chanted prayers.
