Girl's death a wake-up call

By Cui Haipei | China Daily | Updated: 2010-04-28 07:51

The death of a girl, aged 4, in a house fire on Monday has highlighted the fact that many migrant families are forced to leave their children home alone during the day.

Her seven-year-old sister was seriously injured in the fire that broke out in a room the family was renting in Xingong village, Fengtai district.

Sun Zhenqi, head of the village, said on Tuesday that the blaze is believed to have started because the children were playing with fire.
