Rumors of rapes make waves on campus

A female student at Minzu University of China is being investigated after she allegedly spread rumors about three invented on-campus rapes, the institution said.

An online post about the three apparently fictional incidents at the university appeared on a forum of NFDaily.cn on April 14 and the reports soon spread to other web forums, creating panic among students.

"On April 11, a female student at Minzu University of China was stunned by a male stranger at 11 pm on the 14th floor of a teaching building. She was unconscious when the man raped her. The school covered up the incident," said the post on NFDaily.cn made by a netizen with the webname Johnny.
