The 2010 China Qingdao International Forum on New Energy and Sino-German Cooperation Qingdao Summit will kick off in the coastal city in eastern Shandong province tomorrow and end on Friday.
The event is expected to attract government officials, energy experts and business representatives from 25 countries and regions.
With the theme of new energy and sustainable development, the forum will focus on a wide range of issues, including development of alternative energy, efficient use of energy resources, emission reduction, environmental protection and energy conservation.
"The development of new energy is China's inevitable choice to cope with environmental pollution and reduce emissions," said Shi Lishan, deputy director of the National Energy Bureau.
"Currently, China has a sound record of development in the new energy sector, with an annual wind power capacity of 25 million kilowatts ranking second in the world and a solar power capacity of 4 million kilowatts."
