Highways to be identified by numbers, not names

Drivers heading in and out of Beijing will soon be following new road signs, as all national highways will be renamed using only numbers in July.

"Local governments were responsible for building different stretches of national highways and in some cases each gave their own stretch a different name, which

creates a lot of confusion," said Zhou Zhengyu, vice-secretary-general of the Beijing municipal government.
