Say no to whale killing

China Daily | Updated: 2010-04-17 07:58

There are encouraging signs this week

that could eventually rid the world of the gruesome sight of whale killing, a scourge that environmental groups worldwide have been fighting for years.

The world biggest whaling country, Japan, has announced it is unable to kill as many whales as it wanted this season. Efforts from environmentalists in the Pacific area have partly contributed to this. Meanwhile, Tokelau announced it is banning whaling in its waters, the 11th Pacific country to do so.
