Yu Qigong has been making shoes for 30 years. He entered the Beijing Leather Shoe Factory as an 18-year-old apprentice before setting up his own shop, Lao Yu, 20 years ago. With his quiet demeanor and attentive service, Yu has become a favorite among expatriates in Beijing. METRO reporter Qi Zhai followed the master shoemaker for a day.
