Police hunt military hit-and-run driver

Police have launched a manhunt after a hit-and-run driver behind the wheel of a military vehicle mowed down a veteran traffic officer.

Beijing Youth Daily reported on Saturday that the officer was injured when the military sedan fled from a drunken-driving checkpoint in Xicheng district.

The officer, Wang Heng, is part of the Xicheng traffic police detachment and was on duty in Deshengmen when the incident happened at around 12:30 am Saturday.
