Make Internet clean for youths

Effective law enforcement is among steps needed to prevent online porn and violence, and reduce juveniles' addiction

Effective measures should be taken to create a healthy Internet environment for the country's youths because for many of them it has become the main source of entertainment and knowledge, and channel for social interaction.

China Internet Network Information Center's statistics show that people under the age of 30 account for more than 60 percent of the country's 384 million Internet users, with the number of non-adults being more than 100 million. Compared with adults, juveniles have a strong inclination to accept new things and weak self-resistance against harmful stuff. Thus any improper or overdue Internet use is likely to cause them physical and psychological damage. For example, unfettered access to inappropriate online content, such as excessive exposure to Internet pornography and violence, can harm their psychological health.
