Popular video site acquires S. Korean TV shows
An ambitious plan was recently announced by Youku.com, one of the country's largest video websites, to buy and air all TV series produced by a major South Korean TV station over the next three years.
Youku, a popular website that holds the title of most clicks for video in China, released its plan on Tuesday. The site said it had already signed a strategic agreement with Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), one of the top three TV stations in South Korea, to purchase more than 6,000 episodes of 200 TV series.
That number will include all new TV series produced by SBS in the next three years and an extra 1,500 hours of classic programs.
