Mortuaries under closer scrutiny

By Yang Wanli | China Daily | Updated: 2010-04-02 06:38

An official from the Beijing law enforcement supervision office said yesterday that the supervision of more than 100 mortuaries in hospitals and the regulating of illegal corpse carriers would continue until May 20.

Zhu Jinyue, general director of the office, said less than five hospitals were found to have imposed improper charges for mortuary services or failed to display prices for each service item.

"Services for the dead need to be regulated. Hospitals should not ask different prices of different families," he said.
