Credit card debts land man in prison

A Beijing man who went overdrawn on his credit cards to the tune of 220,000 yuan has been sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 100,000 yuan by Haidian district court, Beijng Times reported on Saturday.

Gu Xiangdong, 41, who worked at a insurance company, said he owed banks about 300,000 yuan after withdrawing cash from 20 credit cards in Beijing between May 2007 and December 2008 to fund a business plan.
