TB campaign targets students

Haidian district tuberculosis research institute revealed on Tuesday that a publicity campaign to raise awareness on TB prevention in 2010 was successful at 36 universities.

According to statistics from the institute, more than 50 percent of total TB (Tubercles Bacillus) sufferers in Haidian district are college students, Beijing News reported on Tuesday.

There were about 5,000 new TB cases in Beijing last year, with 800 infectious cases, the Beijing health bureau revealed.
