Jilin Special: Ambitions grow for Changjitu

Changjitu is the core area of China's Tumen River Area Development and Opening Plan, recently approved by the State Council.

Changchun, the capital city of Jilin province, some regions of Jilin city and the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture comprise Changjitu. In total the area covers 30,000 sq km with a population of 7.7 million, about one third of the total population of the province.

The Tumen River is a 521 km-long river that serves as part of the boundary between China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Russia.
