Laureus could be bound for China

By Tang Yue | China Daily | Updated: 2010-03-12 08:04

ABU DHABI - Laureus Sports Academy chairman Edwin Moses said China is on a short-list of countries being considered to host the Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony.

Having hosted the Olympic Games and other significant professional sports events, including the China Open in Beijing and the Shanghai F1 Grand Prix, China has great potential to host the premier awards event on the international sporting calendar, Moses said.

"We have considered going over to China. We have a partnership with China Top 10 (Laureus Sports Awards) and always have good connections with China," Moses told China Daily this week. "More than that, I know there is a huge market and sponsors support sports in China. It is possible (to have it in China) and we will look at that possibility."
