Blackmailer draws jail term

China Daily | Updated: 2010-03-12 07:54

A man who posted messages online to promote his prostitution business and then blackmailed husbands who had affairs was sentenced to 18 months in jail by the Shijingshan district court, the Beijing Morning Post reported on Thursday.

The 27-year-old man, surnamed Zhu, was convicted of blackmailing seven men from December 2008 to July 2009, a Shijingshan district prosecutor surnamed Gu said, without specifying the date of the ruling. Zhu had demanded more than 10,000 yuan from each of the men.

Zhu, a migrant worker from Anhui province, fell in love with a woman from Jinlin province. In an effort to make quick money, the couple then allegedly started an online pimping business.
