Romance of the Western Chamber

Romance of the Western Chamber is recognized as the best Kunqu Opera because of its gorgeous writing and has been deemed "a beauty among flowers". The hero and heroine will be portrayed by Wang Zhenyi and Wei Chunrong, well-known cast members of the Northern Kunqu Opera Troupe.

Romance of the West Chamber recounts a love story in which the pair break through feudal ethical codes and conventions, and finally marry, expressing a dissatisfaction with the feudal marital system and their pursuit of true love.

The opera is rich with wonderful lines, intricate plots and climaxes, and vivid characters.
