New rule to put more disabled people in driver's seat

Organizations for disabled people and driving schools in Beijing have begun to refit cars as people with some disabilities will be able to learn to drive and obtain driver's licenses beginning in April.

The Ministry of Public Security in December issued a revised national rule regarding driver's license applications by the disabled.

According to the rule, people with disabled right legs or both disabled legs - who were previously forbidden to drive - can take the driving test and obtain licenses. The revision also covers individuals who are hearing-impaired or who lack their right thumb.
