Winter wonders bring record tourist numbers

Record numbers of visitors generated the most-ever tourism revenue in Heilongjiang during golden week of the traditional Chinese New Year holiday as the northeastern province became one of the hot destinations for the Spring Festival.

According to Heilongjiang statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, the province hosted 7.82 million domestic visitors and received more than 5.2 billion yuan in tourism revenue, respective increases of 30.3 percent and 28.7 percent over 2009.

In the same period, 13,230 tourists from overseas visited the winter wonderland and spent more than $5 million.
