Toothpaste and toy tigers exchanged for unlit fireworks

By Qin Zhongwei | China Daily | Updated: 2010-03-03 07:43

A citywide campaign to reclaim unspent fireworks began on Monday with offerings of small gifts in return.

A major recollection center has been set up at the north gate of the Worker's Stadium in which citizens can exchange unused fireworks with tiger puppets, the Beijing Fireworks Administration Office (BFAO) informed.

The BFAO also said it was pushing the campaign in local communities. On Chaoyangmen Street, citizens can choose to trade pyrotechnics for toothpaste, recycled bags and numerous other gifts.
