Avoid falls by exercising

Physical exercises that improve muscle strength, coordination and balance can reduce the chance of a fall happening to people with a balance disorder, according to advice published by Germany's Professional Association of Ear, Nose and Throat Doctors.

There's a range of therapeutic exercises that can help patients deal with dizziness and which can be performed at home. The association also recommends taking some time to remove anything from the home that might cause a person to trip. Adequate lighting and comfortably fitting shoes can also help avoid a fall.
