Anatomy of bloggers

Why do people maintain blogs? What do they write in their blogs? What type of blogs do they frequently visit? Many such questions arose in my mind when I was surfing the Internet during my winter vacation. Over the last few days, I have tried to understand the online culture of young people by surfing through blogs and community websites/forums. What I found is that most of the blogs are full of reports on fashion, beauty, personal matters or gossips, and photographs of bloggers and celebrities.

There indeed are many high-quality blogs, which carry important information, statistics and constructive articles. But most of them are written by educated, experienced people who are no longer young. It would be nice to see Chinese youths using blogs to share the pride and glory of the country, experiences of life and other important information to help each other. Writing a blog about one's self is not bad but if the youths maintain blogs about trivial matters and become addicted to them then it should set alarm bells ringing.
