As many as 481,000 migrant workers have flooded into the capital since Feb 17, 145,000 of which came to the city for the first time, but employers in some industries say they are still finding it hard to recruit workers for some industries.
"There are more migrant workers in Beijing who do not have jobs than job opportunities we collected," said Liu Xiaojun, director of the employment service center within the Beijing bureau of human resources and social security. "However, migrant workers show indifference toward job opportunities in manufacturing and the service industry."
Liu said the government has listed 69,667 job opportunities so far, including 12,849 laboring jobs and 11,295 openings for servers in restaurants.
