PM ends election appeal

A top court in Ukraine has accepted Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's request to withdraw her lawsuit against the Feb 7 presidential runoff results. Earlier Saturday, Tymoshenko said she was withdrawing her legal challenge because the court refused to consider documents that she said showed election fraud.

Also Saturday, incumbent President Viktor Yushchenko congratulated former prime minister Viktor Yanukovych on his "legitimate" election victory, and expressed hope that Yanukovych will unite the nation and "defend" its nascent democratic traditions.
